I wanted to:
I am 99% successful at stopping my junk mail, but I've failed to "save the planet."
The junk mail is still coming, but the mail carrier doesn't bring it to my house. Goal #1 is complete. Now I'm working on goal #2.
If enough people do it, maybe we can force the paper-wasting monsters to stop mailing the junk altogether.
Here's what you do:
That's it!
If you do this right now, you'll never see junk in your mail box again -- starting tomorrow.
I did this, and now I receive only my bills -- about 2 pieces per week. No joke.
When you experience success, please please please tell your neighbors!
Thank you
Todd
Are there catches?
Yes. If you happen to enjoy some junk mail, say for example, the Sears Big & Tall catalog, you'll never see it again.
Why does this work?
The post office is not required to deliver 3rd or 4th class mail. At your request, they will stop bringing it.
Is the Post Office telling the mass-mailers to stop it?
No. The mail is still coming. But your mail carrier is simply throwing it away for you.
How fast did this work for you?
I mailed the letter and posted my sign -- it took about 5 minutes. I never saw junk mail again.
Does any junk slip through?
Yes. Some community mail, like Twinbrook newsletters and City Hall stuff still comes. That is because this mail is neither addressed nor metered. Mail carriers are instructed to simply "put one in every box."
